The Weekend Roundup - 'Q'

Friday is here so it is now time for Tom's always fun meme, The Weekend Roundup. 'Q' is altough letter, so I may be taking a few liberties here :)

'Q' stands for the New York City borough of Queens. The following two photos are from Easter Sunday 1961, in front of our apartment building at 204-03 42nd Avenue in Bayside Queens. On top, Grandpa, Aunt Terry, Michele, Sharon, Claudia and Vicki - when there were only 5 Villers kids. Grandpa (Ralph I), Dad (Ralph II) and myself are in the faded bottom photo.

Here is a 2017 photo from Bayside Queens. I was driving under the 42nd Avenue footbridge, the apartment was only 3 blocks to the right...

Here is a Quartet of chicken legs being basted while charring over charcoal...

Here is a Quintet of vegetables also being grilled over charcoal. I counted five different veggies - I hope that's correct :)

A Favorite. How about chocolate dipped strawberries from Tidmarsh's baked goods in Ansonia. The berries were ripe, the chocolate coating divine. It was a tasty treat and thus my fave for the week. Have a great week all!

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 - The Always Lovely Patti

In the blogosphere, I have often referred to the Always Lovely Patti. This of course being my very lovely spouse for nearly 33 years. So for those who have yet to meet her, I have borrowed her shadowy 'selfie' for Shadow Shot Sunday 2. She is equally as lovely in person :)

The Weekend Roundup - 'O'

Tom's always fun meme, The Weekend Roundup, is back with the fourth vowel featured. So the archives were searched and examples of that letter (a bit peripherally perhaps :) have been found...

Ohio begins with 'O' and the city of Steubenville is found therein. I found this folded up correspondence in a box of photos and had to scan it. Apparently this was the ticket to avoid the ticket - carry this in your wallet, present it to the officer and you are on your way. Grandpa, at age 23 showed that it paid to be friends with the Chief...(who looks like he typed it himself given the typing quality :)

More Ohio includes this 1999 entry to the city of Steubenville.

'O' stands for Onion. These beauties were found at a farmers market in neighboring Seymour, CT a few summers ago. I await locally grown produce!

Here is Open Water. This summer view was captured by the always lovely Patti on the Housatonic River in August 2017. Nice neighborhood!

A Favorite. Patti caught this Cardinal strutting in our back yard. Have a great week all!

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 - Shadowy Green

As we await new Spring foliage, the crisp sun and sky fall upon the old town green in Derby, CT. Shadows fall upon the unique architecture of the Sterling Opera House (left,1889) and Second Congregational Church (1845). s the sun's angle is still offset to the South, equally crisp shadows emerge. S I offer these for Shadow Shot Sunday 2. The church did have a pointy steeple until Hurricane Gloria in 1985 removed that - I like the flat roof repair, it adds a unique style to the classic 19th century Puritanchurch.  Have a great week!

The Weekend Roundup 'N'

Spring may be here, but not the sunshine on this cold rainy Friday - a perfect time for Tom's fun meme, The Weekend Roundup. There are lots of ways to showcase the letter 'N', and here are my choices...

Here is New York City and this is Grandpa on Times Square. I believe this is New Year's Eve, either 1963 or 1964. Some readers probably remember the B.O.A.C. reference...

Our furry, friendly, family feline Linus McDonald is a Nice fellow.

Back to New York City and a great picture taken by Allegra last summer of the iconic Brooklyn Bridge crossing the East River.

This is Night in NYC. I am driving and my passenger captured this view along the BQE (I-278) in Brooklyn.

A Favorite was taken by Patti this morning. It seems that these sparrows are posing for the photographer - and rather winsome at that. Have a great weekend all!

Shadow Shot Sunday - Jersey Shore Redux

The strong norther sun of Summer allows for interesting shadows in many places. For me, the New Jersey shore family vacations of decades pas...
