The Weekend Roundup - 'G'

A missed week of Tom's meme The Weekend Roundup is not what I prefer. However, I am back for today's prompts, which means the seventh letter of the alphabet.

Graduate starts with 'G', and I have a few memories here. Top, dad graduated from Ohio's Bowling Green State University. As a bonus, he is with Grandma & Grandpa too!
I am a Graduate of Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio. Aside me is my Dad, 27 years later...
I like the rainbow that showed up for daughter Allegra's Graduation from Ansonia HS, 2006. I imagine she's had lots of Good Luck since then!
Our son Graduated from the University of Hartford in 2012. Allegra also graduated from the U of H (2010).
The George Washington Bridge is another. Known locally as the GWB, it appears to the right. I love looking at that 1931 beauty (but not necessarily being involved in its traffic :) Photo is from 2000 from the Henry Hudson Parkway.
Green is best represented (IMO) by this immaculate 1960 Plymouth Valiant. It is a lovely teal-green paint. Not pretty to be sure, but my favorite choice on the ballot at that show. It must have been the color...Have a great week all!

The Weekend Roundup - 'Z'

The 26th and last letter of the English language is upon us. Thus, it is a perfect time to contribute to Tom's fun meme, The Weekend Roundup. As with many other letters and subjects, I've taken a few liberties with this week's prompts...

When flapping its wings, a Bumblebee goes BUZZ. Patti found this busy bumblebee gathering pollen in shrubbery in our front yard.
Cats, by their very nature sleep a lot - so plenty of Zzzzzzs I'd say...
Zero. A liberty I've taken with Zero is this picture of Grandpa under the Zero minus 4 sign - that is, -4°F / -20°C. This is Fargo ND, 1970.
Week's Favorite. Daughter Allegra was in Prospect Park in Brooklyn NYC. She captured this nice view of the Soldiers and Sailors Arch on a beautiful evening. I guess the plane above is on its way to Runway 4 at Laguardia Airport - Allegra and I spent time looking at a map later to see. An interesting daddy and daughter activity :)

The Weekend Roundup - 'R'

It is Friday so time again for Tom's fun meme, The Weekend Roundup. Given my name, I like this week's letter :)

Starts with 'R'.  How about a generation of guys named Ralph. (L-R)  Grandpa, Dad and myself (age 16) on an unusually warm Christmas Day 1971 in Eat Hartford, CT.

A delectable 'R' is grilled vegetables consisting of eggplant, asparagus and Roasted Red peppers at Carmine's in New Haven.

Our daughter's  first car was a Red 1996 Plymouth Neon.

Here are red Roma tomatoes from a harvest a few years ago.

A Favorite. We have a single tulip next to our patio. It has been a cold and rainy Spring, and on Tuesday it remained closed. However with a bit of sun, it opened on Thursday. Spring has sprung!

The Weekend Roundup 'N'

Spring may be here, but not the sunshine on this cold rainy Friday - a perfect time for Tom's fun meme, The Weekend Roundup. There are lots of ways to showcase the letter 'N', and here are my choices...

Here is New York City and this is Grandpa on Times Square. I believe this is New Year's Eve, either 1963 or 1964. Some readers probably remember the B.O.A.C. reference...

Our furry, friendly, family feline Linus McDonald is a Nice fellow.

Back to New York City and a great picture taken by Allegra last summer of the iconic Brooklyn Bridge crossing the East River.

This is Night in NYC. I am driving and my passenger captured this view along the BQE (I-278) in Brooklyn.

A Favorite was taken by Patti this morning. It seems that these sparrows are posing for the photographer - and rather winsome at that. Have a great weekend all!

The Weekend Roundup 'K'

It is a blustery Saturday in March, so inside I stay, the better to participate in Tom's fun meme, The Weekend Roundup. Today I offer another eclectic mix of the featured letter...

Starts with 'K'. Like Tom, I feature Kodak, but with a twist. Grandpa took this at the Kodak exhibit at the 1939 New York World's Fair. Grandpa always took lots of photos so I guess that's why he took this. In the photo below, that's my dad at 11 years old by the GM exhibit.

Family vacations past took us to Cape Cod, and this is Kalmus Beach in Hyannis. It's nice to look at the fancy sailboats anchored in the harbor...

Kids also begin with 'K' and we  have two (now grown, las). Here is Cameron's graduation from the University of Hartford in 2012. Next to him is Allegra, herself a 2010 grad from the U of H.

Every year, there is a 5K that traverses our Ansonia neighborhood. Last year Allegra participated...

A Favorite. This is from a recent show that covered the patio. I'm not a fan of snow, but relaxing on the patio in warmer seasons is something to look forward to. Have a great week!

The Weekend Roundup 'D'

Good Saturday Morn to all! It is again time for Tom's fun meme The Weekend Roundup. The fourth letter of the alphabet is featured today, so the archives were searched and subjects located, let's give it a go!

Our neighboring town of Derby, Connecticut starts with 'D'. Here is the beautiful Derby Public Library.

Here are some of my Darling siblings (Michele, Claudia and Vicki)sitting in Grandpa's1961 Dodge Dart. It is March 1961 at Kiddy City in Bayside, Queens, New York City.

This is Daddy and Daughter Allegra the day she first arrived at our Derby home. It was taken on 1 Jan 1989 (yikes - she is 30 now!!!!!!)

A Favorite. Patti took this at a reception featuring futuristic laser surgical robotics that will be installed at Griffin Hospital. I'm not certain of what this device will do, but the shapes and colors give this the look of abstract art. Have a great week all!

The Weekend Roundup 'A'

Happy new year to all! I've been away for the holiday from Tom's fun meme The Weekend Roundup. The alphabet begins anew this week, so I have found a few...

Grandpa loved to take state line signs in his travels. Here is Arizona, I guess in 1938. I am unsure of where, but given the topography, perhaps entering westbound from New Mexico along US-60.
I live in Ansonia, Ct and this is the remains of the old Ansonia Copper & Brass along the Naugatuck River. Funding is being secured for demolition and environmental cleanup to be repurposed and a new modern industry to follow...
Then there is Antipasto. This was a fab choice for our ApĂ©ritif at a local restaurant.
The final 'A' today is daughter Allegra, here in her role as a docent (representing 1762) for the local Derby Historical Society.
A Favorite. The always lovely Patti captured this cardinal on New Year's Day. What a great pose. Have a great week!
