The Weekend Roundup 'H'

Saturday is the perfect time for Tom's fun meme The Weekend Roundup. The letter 'H' is featured so perusing through the archives was in order...

'H' can stand for Hartford, Connecticut's capital city

We once had a furry family feline, named Sir Humphrey of Upland. He was a great looking guy and a Heck of a gift!

How about a Heap of snow in East Hartford, CT. Taken on 8 Feb. 1978 after a 2 day blizzard. A bonus 'H' is on far end of the driveway is an AMC Hornet Sportabout! These photos were taken back then with a Polaroid SX-70. Remember them??
A Favorite. Patti captured another blue jay by the forsythia with his prize, an eggshell we leave our feathered friends - they love 'em! Have a great week!

The Weekend Roundup 'G'

As Saturday arrives, the time is nigh for Tom's fun meme The Weekend Roundup. The letter 'G' allows the archives to be searched to match the theme. As the 'Great One' (I'm dating myself here :) was apt to say...And away we go!

Begins with 'G' today begins with Grandma and Grandpa Villers in this view from I believe 1958 or 1959 in their Steubenville Ohio home. Agnes and Ralph look great!

My next 'G' is Graduate. Our daughter Allegra graduates from Ansonia High School top in 2006, The University of Hartford (center) in 2010 and receiving her Masters at Sacred Heart University in 2015 (taken from the mezzanine of the arena - the big screen helped...)

A Favorite. The always lovely Patti captured this in downtown Ansonia. The moon was in a waxing gibbous phase, 67 percent illumination. I love it. Happy weekend all!

My heritage actually began in 1952

I recently started a subscription to Newspapers.com to find the variety of newspaper articles in his role as a news reporter (1960-1962). I found my parent's wedding announcement in The Daily Times of New Philadelphia, Ohio dated Oct. 9 1952.

Mom looks so lovely I think Dad wrote this wedding announcement. They don't write so descriptively these days it seems. What a find!

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 - Sparse Seasonal Shadows

I'm not a fan of Winter - I don't move much in the wheelchair, so feel chilly much of the time. Yet I cannot deny the beauty of the season. Here is a look at Pickett's Pond at Osbornedale State Park in neighboring Derby, CT. Yes, the leaves are gone and the skies look cold. However within the sparse  landscape there are well-defined shadows add a hint of artistry to the scene, so perfect for today's  Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Happy Winter to all - and Spring  will soon arrive. I hope that is :)

The Weekend Roundup 'F'

It is a cold Saturday, so this inside dweller is ready for Tom's fun meme The Weekend Roundup. The archives  have been searched and subjects, so let's begin...

Beginning with 'F' includes In-Flight. It was Dec. 1980 and I was going to Florida. Here is a view out he window of a Delta L-1011 winging toward West Palm Beach. Note the Rolls-Royce engine...

Another view In-Flight is on the way home of the same trip on a very early morning flight on Jan. 2, 1981. The sun is rising over the starboard wing of a Delta 727 after leaving Atlanta. The scanned print is a bit pixelated - but the colors are still vibrant!

How about First Day of school? Here is 1997 as the neighborhood children await the school bus. Our daughter is far left (3rd grade) and son is third from left (1st grde)

A favorite are these birds that the always lovely Patti captured recently. We don't know what they are, but they look great in their gold trim. Have a great week all!

The Weekend Roundup 'E'

It is a sunny (and a bit warmer) Saturday, so time for Tom's fun meme The Weekend Roundup. The fifth letter has a few subjects to explore so we now begin...

My formative years included living in East Hartford Connecticut. This is around Christmastime 1963. It is a typical neighborhood tract house on the day after a snowstorm. I believe that is Grandpa in the window as Dad takes the picture.
Same Christmas, Grandma, Dad and Grandpa alongside our family 1963 VW Microbus on the driveway of our East Hartford home. Love the headwear, especially Grandpa's warm Minnesota hat.
I've probably used this before, but it is a favorite. This of course is the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Our daughter was on a High School trip to the City of Light. She captured this shot from a tour bus - always keep your camera ready!
Evening. This is an early Autumn evening along Ansonia's Main Street. Happy weekend all!

Shadow Shot Sunday - Jersey Shore Redux

The strong norther sun of Summer allows for interesting shadows in many places. For me, the New Jersey shore family vacations of decades pas...
