The Weekend Roundup 'M'

Friday means that it is time for Tom's fun meme, The Weekend Roundup. I like today's letter as there are many example in my photo archives, so I offer an eclectic montage...

Begins with 'M' is Mums. Here is a recent seasonal look at the colorful mums at nearby Sunflower Farm in Orange, Connecticut.

Here is a ball caught in Midair - I don't think the little guy is impressed with this visual magic...

Like Tom, I found a Mercury, this being a 1956 Montclair. It has a 312 V-8 and a 3 speed with overdrive and a stylish black and white interior.

Here is Mount Monadnock in southwest New Hampshire. This is from an old print from October, 1981

Many. Patti wrote an article about a Magnificent lady named Nellie (I said Millie in error) who has lived Many years, 100 to be exact. We published it in our Valley-Voice newsletter yesterday. She looks wonderful! You can see the newsletter HERE. Have a great week!

The Weekend Roundup 'L'

It is the first Saturday in Spring, and being the sixth or seventh day of the week (depending on your calendar), it is time for Tom's fun meme The Weekend Roundup.

Begins with 'L'. How about the city of angels, Los Angeles. Here is a look at the famed Coliseum taken at the 1984 Olympics. That was a fun week for me in the L.A. Basin.

The next is London. This is my dad in the city on a business trip, March 1970. Rule Britannia!

I know this is a rabbit, and in English it is that. However in French, is is called a Lapin. Thus, 'L' is maintained! This was captured in our front yard a couple of years  ago.

Long includes the tidal estuary located between the East River and the Atlantic. We know it as Long Island Sound. An early morning look at the waterway in 2014.

A Favorite. I love Patti's capture of geese in her sideview mirror and the look forward and behind at Osbornedale State park. Have a great week all!

The Weekend Roundup 'K'

It is a blustery Saturday in March, so inside I stay, the better to participate in Tom's fun meme, The Weekend Roundup. Today I offer another eclectic mix of the featured letter...

Starts with 'K'. Like Tom, I feature Kodak, but with a twist. Grandpa took this at the Kodak exhibit at the 1939 New York World's Fair. Grandpa always took lots of photos so I guess that's why he took this. In the photo below, that's my dad at 11 years old by the GM exhibit.

Family vacations past took us to Cape Cod, and this is Kalmus Beach in Hyannis. It's nice to look at the fancy sailboats anchored in the harbor...

Kids also begin with 'K' and we  have two (now grown, las). Here is Cameron's graduation from the University of Hartford in 2012. Next to him is Allegra, herself a 2010 grad from the U of H.

Every year, there is a 5K that traverses our Ansonia neighborhood. Last year Allegra participated...

A Favorite. This is from a recent show that covered the patio. I'm not a fan of snow, but relaxing on the patio in warmer seasons is something to look forward to. Have a great week!

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 - Cold Backyard

Winter is not my favorite season in feel at least - but as shadowy artistry, a northern winter certainly is! Looking over our back yard after a snowy day before, it makes for a fine subject for Shadow Shot Sunday 2. It's warmer tho in the Sonoran desert, which would at least make me feel better...

The Weekend Roundup 'J'

After missing a week without participating in Tom's fun meme The Weekend Roundup, I am back! Happy to be here with a letter that offers a few challenges...challenges

Begins with 'J'. My heritage includes my birth state, New Jersey. My dad, on the left was a reporter for the Atlantic City Press in 1955 and is shown here with the very famous comedy team of Dean martin and Jerry Lewis. I assume the entertainers were between acts in Atlantic City. It is so cool that he got in the picture!

Since we are on the New Jersey shore, how about a family portrait in Brigantine in 1969? This is all the children of my father (7) and my Aunt Terry (6). Grandma and Grandpa are on the lower right. i'm wearing the gold blazer and a turtleneck in the summer heat - odd...NJ beach vacations were the best!

Here we are in 2000 crossing the George Washington Bridge heading toward New Jersey. Someone else took the pic while I was driving :)

Taken in 1982, the baby is my niece Jessie - a cute baby then and a lovely lady now...

A  Favorite. On a very cold day, Pickett's Pond at Osbornedale State Park in Derby CT. I am not a fan of a chilly winter, but the deep blue sky of the season is lovely indeed. Have a great week all!

Shadow Shot Sunday - Jersey Shore Redux

The strong norther sun of Summer allows for interesting shadows in many places. For me, the New Jersey shore family vacations of decades pas...
