The Weekend Roundup - 'I'

It's time for Tom's fun meme The Weekend Roundup. Today the third vowel is featured and it has its challenges...but persist I did!

Ice skating begins with 'I'. This is Dad and my big sister Michele on a neighborhood Ice Rink in St. Paul Minnesota, January 1959

Irish Dancers also starts with 'I'. This is the fantastic dancers from the Mulkerin School of Irish Dance in West Haven, CT. They dane in Ansonia for the raising of the Irish flag in March and other events during the year. Wearin' O' the green!

This is at New York City's Idlewild Airport (now JFK International). The year was 1962 and here is my Dad (in beret) at customs at the old and long gone International Arrivals building. Dad was a travel writer for UPI in the early '60s and traveled a lot. He liked the travel part but a he was low paid reporter in a very expensive city. The kids would travel to Idlewild to pick him after a trip and you could see the (lack of) action from upstairs...

Back to Icy we go. I'd be happy to keep the warmth of now; however, realizing the beauty of Winter we look at an Icy pond at Witek Park in neighboring Derby. Have a great week all!

Shadow Shot Sunday - A Gaggle

I think a multitude of geese is a gaggle - as are the shadows of our friends from Canada. So for Shadow Shot Sunday 2 we see a few geese foraging at Osbornedale State Park in neighboring Derby CT. Some see these as pests, but not here - I see them as majestic avians gracing the land. And their equally  magnificent shadows too!

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 - Sparse Seasonal Shadows

I'm not a fan of Winter - I don't move much in the wheelchair, so feel chilly much of the time. Yet I cannot deny the beauty of the season. Here is a look at Pickett's Pond at Osbornedale State Park in neighboring Derby, CT. Yes, the leaves are gone and the skies look cold. However within the sparse  landscape there are well-defined shadows add a hint of artistry to the scene, so perfect for today's  Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Happy Winter to all - and Spring  will soon arrive. I hope that is :)

The Weekend Roundup 'T'

It is Friday and thus time again for Tom's always fun meme The Weekend Roundup. And away we go...

It is less than a week before Thanksgiving, so here are some of the ingredients we use for our stuffing. No, we do not cube the bread, preferring the box mix, but the smell of sausage and onions and celery sautéing on Thanksgiving morn makes up for that!

Then there is Television. This is Grandpa in front of his (maybe new) Motorola TV in I guess 1952 or 1953. 

 Here are colorful Tea Wreaths for sale at a local craft fair. 

These are sandwiches and more served at an Afternoon Tea at the lovely Tea Roses in Cromwell, Connecticut.

 The final 'T' I'm using is Tent, this canopy at July 4 fireworks in Derby, CT a couple of years ago.

The Weekend Roundup 'Q'

I don't get Blogger - this is the fourth iteration of my personal blog - the last one just quit on me just before I was able to post a post on Friday.

S o for a mere $12 I purchased another domain on Blogger. So I try again :) Perhaps it's a Google problem I just have to live with...I have to reformat the blog, but at least I am here!

Nevertheless, I'll try (again) to post my post for Tom's fun meme The Weekend Roundup.

The 17th letter takes a little bit of work to locate, but I did find a few...

My first example of beginning with 'Q' is the is the province and City of Quebec. This is Grandpa below the classic Château Frontenac, I believe in 1966 or 1967. What a classic building - and guy!

Obviously, 'Q' works for Quackers. Alas, it is not a Quartet nor Quintet, but instead a sextet paddling down the Housatonic River 

A Favorite. Without a deep frost so far this autumn, the foliage color is not at all vibrant - this is the subtle color on Wednesday at Osbornedale StatePark in Derby CT. Have a great week!
